Teaser for 4th Owner/Builder Story

News and UpdatesEvery once in a while, I'll have a reader email me some photos of their completed pool project that makes my jaw hit the floor. Check out what MM from Riverside, CA completed earlier this year in time for his SuperBowl Sunday party 2005 ...

He sent these pictures last week and as soon as I saw them, I told him that his pool belonged on the cover of a magazine somewhere.

Here is a shot of the amazing BBQ/Bar area that would put many a resort's poolside bar area to shame.

And here's a final shot of his pool lit up against the backdrop of a gorgeous Riverside sunset with all the dazzling waterfeatures and fiberoptic effects in full swing.

After MM sent me these initial pics, I started to correspond with him to get some additional information - and information I got! He sent two DVDs full of digital images along with a full packet of designs, architectural plans, ... the whole shooting match.

MM ended up spending hundreds of dollars on books to get ideas and inspiration for different materials, shapes, textures, colors, lighting and other things that would eventually add a little to to final product. His ideas came from pool architecture/design books and magazines, builder portfolios, and material/manufacturer brochures.

In the days ahead, I'll put up a bunch of the information along with the complete specs of this amazing pool. I'm still trying to sort through the stack of information that he graciously sent me.

I know a lot of you will be interested in getting some details of what types of materials he used in construction of this pool along with some of his design techniques and decisions and I promise I will put it up. He sent me a bunch of color brochures along with some of the sub information.

Suffice it to say, there are not a lot of areas that he cut back on in doing this project. One interesting thing that he did prior to starting the project was building a mock-up scale model of the pool in modeling clay. It turned out fantastic (I'll have pictures of that as well) and it was useful in conveying the "vision" of this outdoor oasis to the subs.

So stay tuned for the full story coming up soon. I promise that it will be worth the wait ... Until then, Pool On!
